About ACM

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is a U.S.-based international learned society for computing. It was founded in 1947 and is the world’s largest scientific and educational computing society. It is a not-for-profit professional membership group. Its membership is more than 100,000 as of 2011. Its headquarters are in New York City.

As the world’s largest computing society, ACM strengthens the profession's collective voice through strong leadership, promotion of the highest standards, and recognition of technical excellence.

ACM is organized into over 171 local chapters and 35 Special Interest Groups (SIGs), through which it conducts most of its activities. Additionally, there are over 500 college and university chapters. The first student chapter was founded in 1961 at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

ACM @ IGDTUW’ is the technical student society of the Department of Information Technology, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University. Formed in 2012, the society aims to provide learning resources through its digital libraries and also assists in conducting workshops and seminars on a variety of relevant topics in the field of computing. Being the flagship society of the department of Information Technology, the annual technical festival of the department is also conducted by the society.

What We Do

Our Teams

PR & Sponsorship
This team plays a central role in marketing of the events. From getting sponsors for the event to setting up workshops and managing social relations, the team efficiently works to manage all these aspects.
Event Management
Managing events and workshops engaging over a 100 students is no easy task. It involves handling the overall logistics of the event, working with coordinators, and conducting project management of the event as a whole. This team does it all and creates experiences by bringing visions to life.
Editorial
The Editorial Team is the pillar to all the Chapter’s formal conversations, emails, and blogs. It is also responsible for recording the Chapter’s daily affairs.
Design
The task of communicating information in the most creative and attractive way is done by the Design Team. Acting as the face for Chapter, this team expresses the ideas in the most innovative and engaging ways. All the amazing posters and interesting themes are designed by them.
Web Development
The team makes impeccable efforts to build the stylish website for making the sessions and all other events which ACM-IGDTUW conducts, available online. The web team is the sub sector responsible for handling all digital material as it directly relates to the chapter's objectives.
